    EU has established new rules for limiting online services

    The European Union has agreed upon new rules that will allow European viewers to use online subscriptions to movies, sports and music when traveling in other EU countries, thereby limiting opportunities for so-called geoblocking content. The agreement was reached on Tuesday night between negotiators of the European Parliament. Proposals were made back in December 2015.

    This is the first agreement tight to the modernization of copyright rules in the European Union, proposed by the European Commission's strategy for the digital single market.

    Innovation Explorer Day will be held on 02.23.2017

    More than 500 people used the opportunity for early registration ( "Early Bird") for the third annual edition of the Innovation Explorer event. This was announced by the organizers - the Agency for Innovation Innovation Starter in partnership with "Capital", the only international forum in the country dedicated exclusively to innovation.

    On February 23 on the stage of Sofia Event Center over 30 lecturers and moderator representatives of leading international companies and academic communities, including Singularity University, The Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination, Microsoft, Tel Aviv University Entrepreneurship Center, Onwards, Eicon Enterprise Ignition, PwC, Mastercard, Climate-KIC and others will present their projects.

    For the third consecutive year the forum provides an opportunity for visitors to see and hear some of the world leaders in the field of innovation, international guests are representatives of 11 countries: the US, Israel, Cyprus, Philippines, Sweden, Greece, France, England, Norway, Singapore and Bulgaria.

    The 3rd Innovation Explorer Forum focuses on the debate for the future design of the world and how emerging and exponential technologies can be used for social good. The areas of Space, Education and Economy are transforming the borders of community values and fostering innovation processes for well-being. This is the event where tomorrow`s ideas and the ambassadors of the future collide and unite different points of view in a common direction.

    Alterko sold 6 times more MyKi watches than expected

    Allterco Robotics sold over 58 000 MyKi children's smart watches for 2016, while the original plans of the developer were set at 10 000, said Dimitar Dimitrov, CEO and co-founder of the company, talking on production of the new model MyKi Touch. The device has already been shown at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, and Mtel announced that it will launch in stores in Bulgaria.

    "For 1 year Myki became a brand not only in Bulgaria but also in the region," said Dimitrov. The company relies on agreements with mobile operators to reach a wider range of users, the new model MyKi Touch enables easy replacement SIM card and carrier selection.

    "When developing the new model we listened to children - what they needed, what they would like to have. We started from scratch and using children developed features that are unique in the world, said Dimitrov. - The result is a color touch screen device through which kids can manage all functions only with icons so that it is easy to use for even a 3-year-olds, but useful for older kids as well. By simply pressing a button on the screen, they can call "mom" or "dad".

    8th edition of Evolution of Technical Communication in SE Europe

    The eighth edition of the conference Evolution of Technical Communication will be held on 1st and 2nd June in Sofia Event Center. The location this year is chosen so that it could respond to the growing interest and to accomodate more visitors. The event is organized by tekom Europe - the European association of professionals in the field of technical communications. Bulgarian division of tekom - tekom Bulgaria, was founded in early 2015 and since then managed to attract over 40 Bulgarian professionals in the organization. All members of tekom Bulgaria will enjoy a special discount on tickets for the conference.

    The forum will bring together authors of technical documentation, technical editors and translators, information architects, project managers, product managers and consultants from South Eastern Europe.

    The conference agenda covers the latest trends in technical communications presented by speakers from around the world - Germany, Switzerland, India, Israel, Poland, USA, Canada, Turkey and Bulgaria.

    IT education and industry in Blagoevgrad and Svishtov stimulated by PPP

    Two initiatives in the field of public-private partnership (PPP) in Blagoevgrad and Svishtov are in an active phase of implementation. They have the ambition to develop IT education, increase of examination and skills of students in IT specialties and develop IT industry in the two regions, said the Cluster "Information and communication technologies - Blagoevgrad."

    The purpose of the newly formed cluster "Information and communication technologies - Blagoevgrad" and the Competence Centre for Mechatronic Systems Safety vital activity in Svishtov is to create long-lasting relationships between industry and research organizations to contribute to the development of the sector and promote it as a vital part of the Bulgarian economy.

    DataArt recorded $97 million revenue and over 30% growth

    Record revenue of $97 million announced DataArt - global network of consulting and software companies designing and building custom systems for various industries. DataArt opened its new development center in Sofia in October 2016. The group also reported an increase of over 30% in growth annually.

    The total number of employees DataArt has risen to 2,200 in 20 offices and 9 countries. In addition, for the seventh consecutive year the company was included in the annual ranking of the Inc. 500 | 5000 List of fastest growing companies in the US.

    In 2016, DataArt formed a special group (Solution Design Group) and re-launched its unit "Telecommunications", which enjoyed a 51% growth in annual revenue. The unit is aimed at building infrastructure and solutions for telecommunications service providers.

    IBS Bulgaria became a platinum partner of IBM

    IBS Bulgaria announced that it has become a certified IBM Platinum business partner. IBS emphasize that they are the only company with a similar status in the country and among the few in the region.

    This is the most prestigious level in the renewed Affiliate Program of IBM. It is granted to companies, which reached peak levels of training and showed best performance in providing products and solutions.

    According to IBS Bulgaria, the accomplishment is the result of years of accumulated expertise and constant quest for qualification in the field of IBM technologies.

    The printing in Bulgaria grows in anticipation of digitization

    Global trends reported by the analytical companies in the office and professional print does not meet the local realities. If developed markets are already talking about a reduction of the press in connection with digitization and switching to electronic document, Bulgaria and the rest of Eastern Europe are behind schedule. In Bulgaria there is still growth in the field of printing. This was the conclusion of a webinar organized by the technology site IDG.bg in partnership with Konica Minolta Bulgaria, Xerox Bulgaria and Brother Bulgaria.

    In the online conversation the experience in the field of print and print services was shared by Mladen Georgiev, head of the department "Information" under "Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment in Oncology" JSC; Tsvetan Nikolov, IT manager at a company Schenker and Chavdar Dimitrov, director of "Operational support users' DSK Bank. Current trends and solutions were presented by Dragomir Miloushev, commercial director of Konica Minolta Bulgaria and Tsvetan Tomov, manager complete solutions for office (Office Solutions Manager) at Xerox Bulgaria.
