    Bulgarian team reaches finals of Microsoft Imagine Cup

    Radostin Emanuilov, 11th grade student of Sava Dobroplodni University in Shumen, and Stilian Emanuilov, a student at the University of Edinburgh, will take part in the regional finale of Microsoft's largest Imagine Cup international technology competition for young people held on 12 May 2017 in Zagreb.

    Their "Let Me Dance" project is an application designed to combat obesity and develop motor models in people with motor disorders. The software uses a standard webcam and up to 12 colored velvet tapes placed on the hands and feet. By detecting the color of the tapes, the camera transmits the information to the artificial intelligence that is part of the application. The project manager is Angel Angelov, lecturer at Sava Dobroplodni Sofia University, Shumen.

    Sasha Filipovic will take over the management of Telenor Bulgaria temporarily

    Sasha Filipovic will temporarily head Telenor Bulgaria, replacing Michael Foley, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Grameenphone Bangladesh, part of Telenor Group, as of May 20, 2017

    Fillipovic will serve as Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Bulgaria until the process of electing a new CEO is completed. The telecom clarifies that, at the same time, he will continue to fulfill his duties as Chief Commercial Officer. Sasha Filipovic is part of the company's team since August 2013 and has over 20 years of experience in the field of mobile communications. He was Chief Strategy Officer and Marketing Director of Telenor Serbia.

    Viasat takes a majority stake in the Bulgarian operator EuroGPS

    The Bulgarian operator EuroGPS became part of the Italian group Viasat, which is a leader in the provision of telematics services in Europe. It acquires the controlling stake in the Bulgarian developer, provider and operator of telematics solutions. Following the merger of the two companies, EuroGPS will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary under the name Viasat Technologies, retaining its current leadership. The idea, however, is to create synergies in R & D, innovation and production, and accelerate development in new areas such as the Internet of Things, but also in the development of new fleet and fleet management technologies in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems.

    The Mastercard Initiative Girls4tech arrives in Bulgaria

    The first Bulgarian edition of the Global Initiative Girls4Tech was held by Mastercard at the 119th High School "Acad. Mihail Arnaudov ". The program aims to provoke the interest of girls in school age to a career in the so-called STEM sphere (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Mastercard sessions and exercises were conducted at the school, aimed at girls of the sixth grade.

    Girls4Tech was created in 2014, and 14,000 girls from 16 countries participated in one of the 53 events with more than 1300 company employees who served as mentors and advisors. According to the organizers, the campaign helps girls to raise their knowledge in disciplines such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

    Nevena Taneva is the new HR manager of SAP Labs Bulgaria

    Since the end of April this year Nevena Taneva is the new Human Resources Manager at the SAP Development Unit in Sofia - SAP Labs Bulgaria. She will be responsible for the implementation of the global human resources development strategy of the company in Bulgaria and will work for the sustainable development of the Bulgarian development center as a preferred employer in the IT industry.

    NSI presented a project for updating its information assets

    On 10 May, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) submitted its project to bring the institution's information assets into line with Eurostat requirements and migration to the hybrid private cloud (HCH). The initiative is funded under the Operational Program "Good Governance" (OPC). The event was attended by Diana Yancheva - Deputy Chair of NSI, Yuri Stamenov - Director of the Information Systems and Infrastructure Directorate, the head and members of the project team.

    The aim is to bring NSI information assets in line with the requirements of ISO / IEC 27001: 2013 "Information Security Management Systems", by providing server infrastructure, storage infrastructure, software for creating and managing Backups and network components.

    Netinfo appoints a new commercial director - Antonia Veleva

    Since May 11, Antony Veleva becomes Commercial Director of Netinfo, the digital media company, part of the New Broadcasting Group.

    Veleva has more than 15 years of professional experience in technology management and sales of digital business on the Greek market. She has experience in a number of companies, including Eurisco (the main representative of Double Click for Greece), Fortune, Digitalcosystems EMEA and Adweb. She is part of the team that created the first programming environment in Greece. She has worked for Adobe Media Optimizer, the company that introduces the first cross-media advertising campaigns in Greece.

    About 250,000 tax returns were submitted online

    Growing interest in submitting tax returns electronically reported the National Revenue Agency. This year, nearly 500,000 declarations were filed in the agency's offices, with half of them sent over the Internet.

    Some of them are signed with a qualified electronic signature and the other signed with the free personal identification code (RID), issued by the NRA, announced the revenue agency spokesman Rossen Bachvarov.
